Michel Claise
Michel Claise has devoted his career to fighting fraud, money laundering, and corruption among economic and political elites. He has led high-profile cases, such as “Qatargate,” and has enabled the recovery of millions of euros for the Belgian state. His commitment goes beyond his role: he has publicly denounced the lack of resources available to the justice system and the pressure exerted on magistrates in sensitive cases.
Louis Colart
Louis Colart is an investigative journalist who helped bring the Qatargate scandal to light. He is Head of Investigations at Le Soir newspaper. He is heavily involved in research into financial crime and organized crime and coordinates the European Investigative Collaborations (EIC). He contributes to the fight against corruption and for integrity by exposing the flaws in the economic and political system in which we live. More recently, Louis Colart, together with Le Soir, Knack, and Follow the Money, uncovered the Huawei scandal.
Thierry Geerts
Thierry Geerts evokes a leadership style based on trust and shared lucidity: fully embracing an organization’s choices, values, and limitations, and inviting everyone to understand rather than simply follow. In short, for Thierry Geerts, being radically transparent means making truth and consistency the pillars of credibility and impact.
Thibaut Naniot
Kim Anh Nguyen
Kim Anh Nguyen has distinguished herself through her research and practical contributions on integrity, transparency, and anti-corruption in public institutions. She has led projects on whistleblowing mechanisms, conflict of interest prevention, and ethical decision-making in complex contexts. Working at the Federal Ombudsman, she has contributed to initiatives aimed at improving accountability and public sector ethics through evidence-based approaches and institutional collaboration.
Since 2025, she has been a Board Member of the Network of European Integrity and Whistleblowing Authorities.
Julien Moinil
Olivier Goffard
Olivier Goffard has made an exceptional contribution to integrity, anti-corruption, and transparency. As Chief Financial Crime Compliance Officer at Euroclear, he is key in preventing financial crime, and in managing Euroclear’s conduct and anti-fraud frameworks. Beyond his professional duties, he has excelled as a connector and champion of a strong ethical culture, having been the driving force behind the Belgian chapter of the European Business Ethics Network (EBEN). Through EBEN, he organized numerous events that brought professionals together around ethics and integrity, creating a robust ecosystem that has structurally fostered knowledge sharing and elevated the entire compliance field in Belgium.
Xavier Counasse, Joel Matriche, Alain Jennotte
This trio of journalists has often worked together in the Investigations Department of Le Soir, but they are best known as the trio who broke the major scoops in the Nethys affair. Namely, the revelation of the sale of lucrative subsidiaries of the Liège intermunicipal association at rock-bottom prices and “among friends,” followed by the revelation of the amount of severance pay received by management. Their meticulous investigation led to changes in the rules of governance in Wallonia and the opening of several legal cases for corruption, some of which are still ongoing. Beyond these sometimes award-winning scoops, and many others (the Walloon Parliament clerk affair, Qatargate, Pegasus, the Panama Papers, Chamber pensions, etc.) that documented cases of breaches of integrity or financial fraud, their work at Le Soir established a culture of investigation at the newspaper. And more broadly in the French-language press.
Bart de Bie
Bart De Bie is the driving force behind i-FORCE, a company that has been dedicated to preventing and combating fraud or other integrity infringements in both the private and public sectors for many years. Thanks to i-FORCE, Belgian organisations can call on a specialized firm to conduct professional fraud investigations.
He thus goes beyond his role in the private sector to also contribute to greater integrity in our country within civil society. Bart is president of the Fraud Auditors Institute (www.ifabelgium.be), administrator of the Centre for Policing & Security (www.politiestudies.be), and co-founder of the Vlaams Integriteitsnetwerk (with Professor Jeroen Maesschalk).
Wim De Naeyer
Wim De Naeyer headed Audit Vlaanderen’s forensic audit department for around 25 years and has always stood out for his unwavering commitment to fighting corruption and raising awareness of the importance of integrity in order to strengthen public confidence in the functioning of government.
In addition to his leadership role as manager-auditor in conducting forensic audits, Wim is also an inspiration and pioneer in strengthening government integrity. He constantly emphasizes the importance of prevention, transparency, and awareness, and encourages others to work with integrity to achieve their goals.
Bruno Deraedt
Roosmarijn Smits
Through her many years of dedication, Roosmarijn Smits has established integrity and compliance as an integral part of the legal practice program. She systematically and practically integrates topics such as anti-corruption, anti-money laundering legislation, data protection, and whistleblower regulations into her corporate law course. In doing so, she goes beyond mere knowledge transfer: she cultivates an attitude of responsibility and ethical awareness in students that they will carry with them into their future careers.
Yves Van den Berge
As European Public Prosecutor, Mr. Van Den Berge is responsible for combating corruption and leads numerous investigations into fraud committed against European funds and against VAT- and customs fraud committed by criminal organizations. He is also involved in many areas to raise public awareness of this phenomenon, including giving lectures.
Colonel Johan Van de Walle
Colonel Van De Walle has long distinguished himself through his unconditional and unwavering active commitment to promoting public integrity.
His high rank in the Defense Department has never dampened his enthusiasm for passing on his knowledge, sharing his experiences, participating in working groups and networks with a view to developing federal strategic policy on public integrity, contributing to workshops on implementing integrity management in organizations, and setting an example in terms of transparency, honesty, responsibility, and respect for the rules.
Professor Wim Vandekerckhove
Ann Van Lommel
As CEO of Febelfin Academy, Ms. Vanlommel leads initiatives to provide high-quality training for the financial sector, with a particular focus on integrity and compliance. At Febelfin Academy, we believe compliance is more than following rules—it’s about people, and above all, the integrity and behaviour that define our industry. Driven by this vision, Ms. Vanlommel is committed to fostering transparency and honesty in Belgium every single day.
Patrick Waeterinckx
Patrick Waeterinckx embodies integrity and rigor in the Belgian civil service. As an experienced inspector and civil servant, he has devoted his career to preventing fraud, promoting transparency, and improving administrative governance. His constant, often discreet but essential work aims to ensure that public procedures comply with the principles of fairness, impartiality, and accountability. Through his exemplary conduct and independent spirit, he has inspired many colleagues to place ethics at the heart of their mission.
