Last week, we had the opportunity to introduce Transparency International Belgium (TI-Be) and its activities to the members of the renowed Société Royale d’Economie Politique de Belgique (Koninklijke Vereniging voor Politieke Economie van België), founded in 1855.
The seminar “l’Economie face à la corruption” was introduced by Prof.dr. P.–Guillaume Meon, who went through scientific literature on determinants of corruption and its consequences. Corentin Hericher, professor at UCLouvain and board member of TI-Be, presented the Corruption Perception Index and what it tells about a country. Gudrun Vande Walle, executive director of TI-Be and visiting professor at Ghent University explained why the ngo still has a raison d’être and how TI-Be works every day to create awareness in society. We had an excellent discussion moderated by Magali Caroline Van Coppenolle.
We thank the EREPB and Solvay – ULB for the invitation and we are looking forward to further collaboration on this topic.
